gifski is a command-line GIF encoder that turns image frames into GIF animations using the vector processing algorithms from pngquant directly in your terminal.
It accepts PNG files as input, usually a directory of PNG files or a Y4M video file and converts frames of images into a single sequenced GIF file and also using cross-frame palettes and temporal dithering to retain color and motion.
It can also be used from FFmpeg and gifski can export numbered PNG frames first. Separate controls for motion and lossy quality help manage file size. The quality of the overall GIF can also be configured with the '--quality=N' which affects both the animation and the grain of the image and it compress the size and dimensions as well.
Users such as technical writers, developers or tutorial creators who need to use PNGs, videos and to convert them into GIFs or need to compress a pre-processed GIF into a smaller one can use gifski for this use case.
