act (otherwise known as netkos/act) is a command line tool for running GitHub Actions jobs locally on your computer.
It reads .github/workflows file, maps the needed jobs, uses Docker images, and matches GitHub-style environment variables and filesystem behavior.
It also includes local task running, dependency-based job order, Docker image pull or build handling, and VS Code extension support.
act is useful for developers checking CI, action changes, pull request checks, and release jobs in the terminal.
