Serverless peer-to-peer voice and text chat for your terminal.

tincan is a terminal application for peer-to-peer (P2P) voice calls and text chat.

The host shares an invite code or a room name and passphrase, and the room closes when they leave. Participants switch between channels and adjust each speaker's volume in a roster that shows who's speaking.

tincan suppresses microphone noise before sending encrypted audio across the internet. Peers find each other through Number Zero's public discovery services and it uses a relay if a direct connection fails, with latency and dropouts shown in the interface.

Engineers, privacy-conscious users and those who want a simple voice chat utility in the terminal can use tincan for LAN chats or calls where other voice apps like Discord and other services are blocked.
